The movie Taare Zameen Par coveys a beautiful message. What interested me about it was how this movie shows that parents neglect their children and how they ignore the signs of their children having problems, considering them dense which is stereotypical of Indian parents. Ishaan Awasthi (Darsheel Safary) is an eight-year-old whose world is filled with wonders that no one else seems to appreciate and understand whereas, adults are much more interested in things like homework, marks, and discipline. And Ishaan just cannot seem to get anything right in class. When he gets into a lot of trouble than his parents can handle, he is packed off to a boarding school to be disciplined. Things are no different at his new school, and Ishaan seems to struggle with the added trauma of separation from his family. One day a new art teacher bursts onto the scene, Ram Shankar Nikumbh (Aamir Khan), who creates an atmosphere for students with joy and optimism. He breaks all the rules of how things are done by asking them to think, dream and imagine, and all the children respond with enthusiasm, all except Ishaan. Nikumbh soon realizes that Ishaan is very unhappy, and he sets out to discover why. With time, patience and care, he ultimately helps Ishaan find himself. Aamir Khan has produced and directed the movie. Aamir Khan Productions has distributed the movie. I think they made this movie because it shows the importance of parent’s and teacher’s roles in a young child’s life. The intended objective was to show the audience how powerful the role of teachers can cause a deep impact on shaping a child’s life. This movie conveys the message that every child is special and each one has their talent. Children should not be discriminated against based on who has a better IQ. Also, how a teacher’s role can save a child from losing himself.
